An access log is a thorough list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain Internet site. Every single file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have just one page with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the six files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log usually offers the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you can also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The data that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of an Internet site, independent of the web statistics your server may have generated.
Access Log Manager in Hosting
If you purchase a hosting
from our company, you shall be able to decide if access logs should be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this must be done. You can enable this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, integrated with all shared accounts. Each domain
you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can quickly trigger or disable the generation of access logs individually for every single site that you have. You could save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you will see in the same exact section of the Control Panel. The link is available even after you deactivate the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data gathered by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you host your Internet sites inside a semi-dedicated server
account with us, you will have the option to trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs with no more than several mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You shall find this feature within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is a single click on the On button you'll see there. The feature can be activated separately for any site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find a full list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with just a click and you can then look at it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation may be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your Control Panel.
